Since when are Carnations Blue?

Today I have Finger Paints Carnation Creation from the Palette of Petals Collection for you! Now, I love Carnations but I don't know where they got the name for this one from. I have seen Carnations that are sprayed un natural colors, in fact I love the green ones they do for St. Patrick's Day but I don't think of tealy blue when I think of Carnations. Regardless of my issue with the name this color is gorgeous.

I sent my son up to grab a polish and this is the one he chose for me. Very little surprise there since he always goes for the blues. I was excited about this polish from the promo pictures. Its a teal creme dream. THAT should be the name of this polish lol.

These pictures were in the shade of my car so it is still natural light.

This polish was pretty thick from the get go. I ended up putting some thinner in it because by the time I got to the second coat on my second hand I was tired of dealing with it. The thinner worked nicely though and now it is the perfect consistency. Let me tell you though this baby could be a one coater! I put a second coat on only because the thickness caused me to leave too much of a gap on the sides of my nails. I was trying so hard to paint them nicely and not end up with polish everywhere that I ended up with huge gaps lol. baby steps. If you polish like a normal person though you could get away with one coat.

These office pictures are inside with the door open so the lighting is somewhat natural with a hint of artificial lol. I was playing with the camera settings so I took some extra shots to see if there was any difference.

I can't tell much of a difference. I used Out the Door as my top coat but the sucker was being a brat and wouldn't dry so I put a coat of Seche Vite on there as well.

The last picture is in direct sunlight. This polish does look a little darker and dustier to me in low light. I love the color and love that it is a creme. If you notice any shimmer in the pictures that is because my previous mani had glitter that didn't want to leave the area and my Out the Door has been contaminated by something that was apparently a shimmer.

Overall this color is great and once I thinned it to the consistency I like working with it cooperated nicely. Bonus points for being a one coater though I usually find some way to warrant a second coat. Now I am looking forward to trying the others I picked up from this collection.

That's all for now :)

  1. I thought the same thing about this polish. LOL. It's such a pretty color, but honestly, the name threw me off. It's a gorgeous one-coater, but it stains like crazy.

  2. I am glad I am not alone when it comes to the name lol. I didn't have horrible staining but I just took it off and my index fingertip is slightly blue. I was actually expecting a lot more staining.
