We are the Music Makers

 Hey Everyone!! It is now warm here again. Boo!! I have the doors open at work but I don't know if they will be open all day because it is getting warmer it seems. I am not pleased. I like sweater weather. I am not really motivated to make more fingerless gloves now that it is too hot to wear them. I finally, after over a year, found a pattern and was able to execute it correctly. I am pleased and excited and have already made two pair. I am trying to get back into crocheting however I find too much of it leaves my neck and shoulder sore. I will have pictures of some projects soon.

Now on to what you all are really waiting for...more Indigo Bananas! Today I have one from the 2013 holiday Paradise Collection. I have to warn you now this post is extremely picture heavy. I tried to get pictures of the shift in colors but I didn't have much sun and though I could see it clearly on the nail I couldn't capture it on camera. 

Indigo Bananas We are the Music Makers. This won me over with the name and Willy Wonka reference even before I saw the actual polish.

It has a gorgeous teal jelly base with an insane color shifting mix of glitter. You get green, teal, blue, red, violet and holographic shimmer in this one pretty little bottle. It is actually a lot prettier on the nail than I can actually show or describe.

I wanted to try this polish alone but I also wanted to see what it would do over a darker base. I used an accent nail with a base of two coats Orly Le Chateau from the 2011 Holiday Soiree Collection.

I used three coats on everything but the accent nail. The color built up nicely.

This baby is definitely a glitter so it does dry a little rough. I only used one coat of top coat but I did think about adding another just to make it extra smooth. In the end I didn't and it was shiny and mostly smooth but those of you that have an issue with texture might want to use a thicker top coat or a coat of Gealous.

I wish I could do this polish justice. I might have to wait for the sun to come out again and redo the mani and see if I can get better pictures.

I can't decide if I like it better alone or over Le Chateau.

I took a lot of pictures trying to show the different colors in this polish. You can see more green in my pinky and more purple in my index finger in the picture above.

It was hard to capture but fun to wear. I kept moving my hands around so I could watch the glitter shift colors. I noticed in the really bad lighting in the bathroom it liked to stay purple.

Weird angles brought out more purple.

These last pictures were taken in the horrible bathroom lighting but I needed to try and get that purple shift. It shows up a little better in these pictures but not nearly as strong as it is in person.

I am loving the color shifting glitter.

This polish is really very pretty.

I had a lot of fun wearing it. I know these last two pictures are almost identical but that is ok. I can't get enough of this polish.

I am definitely impressed with the polish and what I have experienced from Indigo Bananas so far. I have one polish left to show you tomorrow. I also rather love this polish for the name.

Moonlight (clair de lune)

Hey Everyone!! I was thinking recently that maybe I could go through my Indie polishes and do a week for each brand. Some of the brands I have way more than a week's worth of polishes but others I only have a few. I am thinking maybe every other week doing and Indie week of posting. I haven't really planned it out but I am really wanting to try and get through all of my untrieds. Since I have been giving more thought to narrowing my stash I figure it will also give me a chance to see what I love and what I might be able to part with. I don't know who I am trying to kid because we both know I don't know the meaning of purge. We will see how it goes since I am still working out the details. What I do know is that this week I have a new to me brand that I absolutely love.

Today I have my current favorite polish to show you. Yup, I said it, current favorite. My friend laughed at me when I said that and told me picking a favorite was like picking your favorite kid out of 2,000. That pretty much sums it up. I already showed you this polish in the Concert Mani but here you get a nice look at a full mani in all it's sparkly glory.

Indigo Bananas Moonlight (clair de lune). I believe this is from their Halloween/Fall releases, at least that is where you can find it on Etsy. Currently I only see the mini bottle in stock. Their mini bottles are a generous 8ml which I like a lot. I love this polish so much a mini wouldn't be enough though. I did order the other two colors in mini bottles and I am very happy with the size. 

I wanted to add a little something to this mani because I just can't leave anything alone. I decided a simple addition would be best because what I really want to see is Moonlight. I used PUEEN36 from the Love Elements plates and stamped that little tear drop looking design on the bottom left. I stamped with Sally Hansen Insta Dri Quick Jeanius. I then placed a small metallic blue rhinestone in the center to give it more pop. I loved this mani so much. 

Look at that sparkle!!! Moonlight is not a glitter. This baby is a silver flakie polish. It is amazing and bright and oh so sparkly. This is the closest thing to a metal look I have seen. I used three coats for this mani. I can not rave about this polish enough. I looked at my nails far too much when I wore this mani and I am already thinking of how I can wear it again. 

I actually think it is more shiny and sparkly in low lighting rather than direct sunlight. I didn't really get any good pictures in the sun because the sun wasn't cooperating. I top coated the stones this time after losing them so quickly in the Concert Mani but I still managed to loose one before I had a chance to take the pictures. This was the second day of wear so they did stay on all day with no problem. I only lost one stone. Too bad I didn't notice before I left home without a replacement.

Can you see why this is my current favorite polish? I love it.

Aside from the silver flakie there are also purple and black microglitter in it. I hardly even notice the microglitter except that there are angles when you can see a flash of color. I might be too blinded by the shiny to notice the microglitter most of the time. This has to be the shiniest polish I own.

This was the one picture I took that was more in the sunlight. Another great thing about this polish is that since it isn't a glitter it doesn't have the awful glitter removal stubbornness. It is quite easy to remove though you will have silver flakies hanging around after removal. A quick wash of the hands and you are good to go. Can you imagine something this awesome AND it is easy to remove? Oh yes, this polish is awesome!

Tomorrow I will have another Indigo Bananas polish to show you. I am so excited. My wallet isn't thrilled that I have found another Indie maker that I must buy all the polishes from but I am really excited!

Mountain High Chinchilly

Hey Everyone!!! Well this wasn't the post I planned on for today but it will have to do. Last night I ate taco salad and apparently it didn't play nice with my GERD. Not sure exactly what part of the salad but my tummy was very grumbly and heartburn like. I was in no mood to edit pictures. Then I got sucked into the National Championship game. That didn't help my stomach any. I am not an Auburn fan but I am very very anti Florida State as a UM fan. I thought Auburn was going to pull it out but in the end they made a couple more errors and let it slip away. I was not pleased. I get far too involved in games. I swear they are going to cause me to develop an ulcer at some point. So that was my night of not doing photos and blog post preparation. I hope everyone is staying warm and safe out there. I keep hearing how cold it is from friends about the country and it is insane. Please stay safe everyone!

Today I have a cozy mani to show you. This one makes me think of a sweater and just being nice and cozy in general. I loved it. I forgot how much I love this polish.

I started with a base of Essie Chinchilly. I used three coats for this one.

Since I needed sparkle I put a coat of Wet N Wild Fergie Holiday polish Mountain High.

I loved this mani. I kept it on for a couple of days because I enjoyed it so much.

Please excuse the cuticle cut. I have no idea how it happened I just know it hurt and looks nasty. I forgot to put something over it.

Mountain High is a great polish! I love the iridescent glitter and flakies in it. Since the base is milky it did slightly change the appearance of Chinchilly but not too much.

Christmas Concert Mani

Hey Everyone!!! It is one of those days today. It is actually pretty cool out though so I am very excited. It is by no means cold but at least it isn't 80 degrees anymore. 

Every time T has a performance I try and do music themed nail art. This year he had his winter concert so I did a combination of holiday and music. This mani was inspired by the Mistletoe Tips mani over on the Canadian Nail Fanatic. I didn't use the same polishes but tried to make it similar. Unfortunately my skills are no where near the level of her skills. 

I started with a base of OPI Don't Touch my Tutu. I really enjoyed the 2012 Soft Colors Ballet collection and have reached for them quite a few times recently. I used Pirouette My Whistle to add some glitter to the tips. You can not see it very well but it is there.

I used BM-302 for the holly leaves and BM-411 for the music notes. 

I used little red rhinestones that I found at a local beauty supply place to add some bling to the berries.

I wasn't going to top coat the rhinestones because I don't like the way it looks and I wasn't wearing it for more than a night. Well, between putting them on at work, getting gas and driving home I lost two stones. I decided I had to topcoat them before I lost more.

The top coat didn't bother me too much and I ended up keeping this mani for an extra day so it worked out well.

For my ring finger base I used Indigo Bananas Moonlight (clair de lune). I LOVE this polish. I mean LOVE!

I will have another post on Moonlight coming up next week but I am definitely in love with this polish. It is blingy and amazing.

The pretty sparkles kept me entertained at the concert during the time when their complete disorganization and lack of preparedness left us sitting waiting for the next performance for what seemed like forever.

The concert was pretty disastrous but my mani was quite pretty.

Green Rocket

Hey Everyone!!! I am back at work today. It is thrilling. My machine is down so I can't print, fax or scan and that has me backed up and basically sitting here with nothing to do. The guy is supposed to come fix it for me today so I should be quite busy later.

Today I have a polish that I was desperate to get for Christmas. When I saw this in the Fall I passed on it thinking I could get it later. Well, later came and Walgreens changed their polish displays to those stupid gift sets and perfume sets no one wants to see. Last year I was obsessed with red and white glitter for Christmas and this year I wanted green and white. I finally found this polish at Target. I bought it then wouldn't you know they popped up at the store closer to my house on clearance. I was super excited to find it so I didn't get too upset, especially since they aren't too expensive to start. I would have preferred getting it on clearance but I am just psyched that I got it. I was starting to lose hope.

Sally Hansen Green Rocket. This one comes from their Limited Edition Fall 2013 Glitter collection for the Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line. That was quite a mouth full. Does anyone else not understand why Sally Hansen has about a million different lines?

Green Rocket is a great assortment of green and white glitter in various sizes and shapes.

This was three coats. 

I wouldn't mind if there was more glitter in there so I didn't have to do as many coats but I like the polish a lot so it is ok. I thought I was going to have to franken my own until I finally found a bottle.

I can see this coming out for St. Patrick's Day too.

I used Bundle Monster plate BM-H01 for the reindeer stamping. The present nail didn't come out very well. 

As much as I love Rudolph I liked this mani more without the stamping.
