A Scandalous Apple Berry Smoothie

Hey Everyone! What a day. I have the kids at work with me today. That is always fun. I think I may be allergic to work. lol Not the actual work but my place of work. When we got here this morning my son had a huge sneezing fit and runny nose crazy episode. Over the past few days my cough/congestion garbage has been acting up really bad too. I was already thinking that I seem to have less problems on the weekends when I am home but the fact that my son started sneezing and such within minutes of being here is making me think. I might have to try and do a DEEP cleaning of my office and hope that it doesn't kill me in the process lol

Have you ever not been overly impressed with a polish but then put it on and smack yourself with a shoe for not realizing how awesome it was in the first place? THAT is what happened to me with this polish. OMG. I love Cult Nails and have been a fan since the brand launched. Around the time I started getting into the nail scene on the internet and found out about the nail boards and such is about the same time Maria launched Cult Nails. I didn't know her from the boards or anything but found her blog and followed her through the launching of the brand and I have been a fan ever since. I haven't been able to get all of the polishes they have put out (darn you lack of money lol) but I do have a nice collection and I am always looking to get the ones I am missing. Recently I found a couple on a blog sale and jumped on the opportunity to bring them home.

Cult Nails Scandalous is from the 2012 Divas and Drama collection. This was one of the collections I missed out on but because Maria puts out so many awesome polishes it kinda got pushed down the list by newer polishes that I covet. THANK GOODNESS I jumped on it when I saw it listed on the blog sale because it is GORGEOUS!!!

I had a picture of just Scandalous but I had taken it inside before doing the nail art and the lighting was awful. I will definitely do another mani with this color soon because it is so awesome. Scandalous is a coral dream of a polish that has that squishy jelly look that I am in love with. It pulls more orange on me and totally reminds me of a juicy candy.

I used Rimmel Apple Berry Smoothie from the Cocktail Colour Collection that has been popping up in stores. The Cocktail polishes are gorgeous foily, glass fleck, shimmery polishes. There are five polishes in the collection but the bottles are on the small side. I believe they are 6 or 7ml and my Walgreens has them for $2.49 a bottle. Due to size and price this one was the only one I actually purchased and only because I had a coupon.

I started with a base of Scandalous which is sooo yummy. I didn't want to do nail art on all the nails because I didn't want to cover Scandalous up.

I used striping tape that I bought on ebay to tape off the designs. I was actually going to make my index finger match my middle finger but then decided one nail had to be plain.

I was attempting this mani and rushed so I ended up messing up a bit. I tried to hide it on this hand by making the pinky a little different. It didn't work but still looks pretty cool.

I love both of these polishes and actually really liked them together. I need to do manis with each of them alone though because they are both such pretty polishes.

That's all for now :)

Tidal Wave of Stars

Hey Everyone! I am soo tired. We drove upstate yesterday to pick up df's daughter for the Summer and sitting in the car for around 10+ hours has left me sore and tired. I meant to pre schedule a post for yesterday but somehow forgot. I am running on fumes today so I am not very chatty lol Shocking isn't it?

One of my favorite blogs, one of the ones my stupid work computer won't let me comment on too, is Fingers Polish Mania. When I did this mani I wasn't totally stoked with the way the stamping came out and I thought of her awesome funky french manis and it inspired me to do a french tip over this stamping. When I think of funky french manis I think of Fingers Polish Mania so I had to send you all her way if you don't already follow her!

I started with a base of Sinful Colors Tidal Wave. This is a new polish from Sinful Colors and can be found in the Pool Side Polish display. I have actually yet to see that display but my Walgreens just threw these in with the pretty much empty regular display. My Walgreens is really special so it isn't too surprising.

I stamped with Maybelline Color Show Metallics Navy Narcissist. I got this baby on clearance at CVS because I figured it would be a great stamping polish. It definitely is and I love it!

I used the stars in circles design on Cheeky plate CH52 from the 2012 Summer plate collection. It reminds me of Converse shoes.

Tidal Wave is a pretty light blue that looked brighter and darker after I stamped it. Application was pretty good. I love most Sinful Colors polishes because they are cheap and good lol

It is thundering out. I love rain and thunderstorms I only wish I could be at home enjoying it on the couch. It is making me more tired. I also wish I had a window to watch it rain though that might put me to sleep.

So Navy Narcissist stamps really well though I messed up the designs a little. I can't remember which stamper I used but I was having some issues and some of the designs came out a little weird.

I don't usually do the french tip, especially when my nails are this short, but I kinda LOVE IT!

This design makes me think of my dad. He used to wear Converse high tops when I was little. Once we were shopping and saw a purple pair of high top Converse in his size and wanted to get them for him. I think they were really cheap which made us want to get them for him even more.

I think my coffee is finally starting to kick in. I discovered a few other brands of stamping plates that I am not itching to try out. I can't wait to show you the mani I have on today. I am loving stamping and making stamping decals lately.

That's all for now :)

Stay Behind, Catch a Wave

Hey Everyone!!! Happy Monday!! I hate those mornings when you know you have to get up early for something and end up waking up insanely early and unable to go back to sleep. That was me this morning. I have been up since around 6am. Luckily I am not TOO tired but that may change by the afternoon. It might be a two coffee kinda day.

Today I have an awesome mani to show you! I LOVED this mani. So so much!

I used Illamasqua Scorch as my base. This is my second Illamasqua polish that I own and the first one I have tried. I don't know if they are all like this but if they are I am going to need more. A nail board friend snagged this for me from Sephora in JCPenny on clearance because my store didn't have any. White polishes are usually a PITA to work with but this was an easy two coats full coverage gorgeous off white dream. The picture was taken inside so it looks more gray than white but omg it is awesome.

Elevation Polish Stay Behind, Catch a Wave. The label says just Catch a Wave but I would imagine it would be hard to fit the whole name. This baby is amazing. I had been wanting this polish since it came out but just recently was able to finally snag a bottle. OMG just go buy it because it is awesome!

Catch a Wave is a gorgeous glitter in a slightly blue tinted base. I didn't realize the base was tinted until I put it over Scorch actually. This baby has a TON of glitter and 5, yes FIVE, different circle glitters in there. It also has iridescent hexes and holo micro glitter in teal and green. The circle glitter is white, blue and teal.

I did two coats of Catch a Wave over two coats of Scorch. I LOVE the color Catch a Wave's tinted base turned Scorch. Such a pretty tint.

Catch a Wave was a bit on the thick side so next time I use it I am going to add thinner. There is a TON of glitter in this baby so I am not surprised it is a little on the thick side.

There is so much glitter in this polish! I could not stop staring at my nails.

I took a ton of pictures because it is so pretty. I know, a lot of them look the same but how can you resist staring at that gorgeous blue glittery goodness?

Something about the iridescent glitter makes this mani even more awesome.

This is one of those polishes I could just stare at all the time. I should probably keep the bottle on my desk so I can always see it. I can't believe I waited so long to get it.

I need to make a necklace with this combination and wear it all the time.

Stay Behind, Catch a Wave is from the 180 degrees South Collection and is currently available on the site.

Elevation Polish is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands. I have loved every polish I have tried so far and there are several I have my eye on still!

If you don't have this polish and you like glitter you NEED it! You will not regret it!

That's all for now :)

Beachy Racing Stripes

Hey Everyone!! What a chaotic morning. It was the first day of summer vacation yet I was still up around 7:30. Aside from the fact that I am trained to get up around that time Neil is also trained to get up around that time. If he isn't already in bed with ds he will lay next to the bed and call ds until he puts him up in the bed with him. Neil can't get up on the bed and couch himself but if he wants up somewhere will sit there and sing the song of his people until someone picks him up and puts him where he wants to go. It is cute but not necessarily that early in the morning. It all went nuts from there. At least it is Friday though :) My mani also was chipped by 9:30am and all I did was get up and shower and get ready for work. NOT CUTE! I hadn't and still haven't even had a chance to take pictures yet.

Today I have another mani using the BornPrettyStore mini round glitters that were sent to me for review.

For this mani I used the black or gunmetal colored glitter in the lower right corner. It is one of the holographic colors.

I started with Revlon Beach. Beach is a scented polish and was on clearance at CVS. I love bright colors and for little over a buck it was a great buy. I have no idea what it is supposed to smell like but it wasn't an over powering scent.

I decided to make two lines of round glitter going down the center of my nails for this mani.

Df called this the racing stripe mani. He kept talking about my racing stripes. I guess it does kind of look like racing stripes but I wasn't really going for that lol.

This is my favorite of the colors I tried. I love the way it looks with Beach and I love how holo it is.

For this mani I dotted some clear on the nail then used my dotting tool to pick up and place the circles over the clear I put on the nail. I did one dot of clear on my nail at a time because when I tried going for more it dried too quickly. I should have probably used a non fast drying clear.

Since I knew I would NEVER be able to do this without some sort of guide I used a piece of striping tape to guide my stripes. I put the striping tape down the middle of my nail then placed one row of glitter on each time. When I removed the tape the lines were perfectly spaced and pretty straight.

I really like this mani. I love the colors and I thought it was so fun.

A close up of those glitter.

I want to do these stripes on all my neon glitters now.

Remember you can use code JLG10 at BornPrettyStore for 10% off your next order.

I hope you enjoyed my review of the Mini Round Glitter set :) I am already thinking of other ideas for this glitter.

That's all for now :)

Gold and Silver Round Glitter Mani

Hey Everyone! OMG the internet has me disgruntled today! I think it is Modzilla, which I don't usually use, that is bugging me. I usually use an old version of IE because my boss didn't want to update it to Chrome but it keeps freezing so I decided to give Modzilla a try again. I can't comment on any blogs and of course today I have time to do some blog reading. It just took me forever to get these pictures situated the way I wanted them. I STILL can't figure out how to get the blog posts to update to Facebook when I post. The internet isn't playing nice today. It is the last day of school today too. I am only borderline ready for Summer.

Today I have another mani to show you using the BornPrettyStore circle glitters that they sent me for review. I had a grand plan using the silver and gold glitter but I couldn't quite get that plan executed the way I imagined it so I reformulated the plan and came out with this mani.

I used Essie No Place like Chrome and Good as Gold from the 2012 Mirror Metallics Collection.

I used the gold and silver holographic circle glitter from the Born Pretty Store mini round glitter set.

I started by painting my nails in No Place like Chrome then painting half of each nail in Good as Gold. I couldn't find my ridge filler base coat so you could see every imperfection in my nail. I highly recommend using a ridge filling base coat to smooth out your nails before using the Mirror Metallics.

Unfortunately these two colors almost blended on the nail. It was hard to see the difference between the silver and the gold. I decided to put glitter on the color line to help distinguish the two colors. I used three gold circles on the silver side of the nail and two silver circles on the gold side.

This mani reminds me of a clown outfit for some reason.

The glitter is really awesome and I love them when the light hits them. They were super easy to use especially since I already knew to use the glitter stuck to the lid.

You can see the middle glitter on my index finger in the picture above shows where two pieces were stuck together. I didn't notice until it was on the nail and when I tried to get them apart the one on top slid over just a tad and stuck itself firmly to the mani. At that point there wasn't much I could do other than pretend it didn't exist and that I didn't notice. lol

I really wish I had found my ridge filling base coat before doing this mani because the uneven surface drove me crazy. Thank you Essie for pointing out every.single.imperfection in my nails!

I love these little circle glitter and there are so many different things you can do with them to spice up a normal mani. I would love this glitter in ALL the colors!

There is another set of Round Glitter on Born Pretty Store that appears to be larger circles. I am going to need that set too! I love round glitter and these are really fun.

Just a reminder Born Pretty Store created a special 10% off code for my readers if you use JLG10 at checkout.
