Mahogany Magic and the Money Badger

Hey Everyone!!! I think my coworker is seriously trying to cause me to perish from hypothermia. I am freezing in this office! On another note I am apparently obsessed with all red and white glitter polishes. Last year I got KB Shimmer Candy Cane Crush because I was absolutely in love with it. Then I just recently bought Girly Bits Canuck the Dots which is also red and white glitter. Today I went to Sally Beauty and had to force myself to put their holiday red and white glitter back on the shelf instead of buying it. I am still wanting to go back for it. Please explain to me why I do not need yet another red and white glitter. I am highly disappointed that I can't find the stupid Sally Hansen green and white glitter anymore because all of the drugstores that had that display took it away to put their stupid perfume gift sets out for Christmas. I am kicking myself for not buying it when I saw it since I can't find it now. This year I want green and white glitter! I would be tempted to make my own but I don't have the glitter.

Today I have another Fall mani even though it doesn't have any stamping over it. I got lazy and decided not to stamp on it. I loved the glitter and didn't really want to cover it up.

Bruce was checking out my mani while I took the pictures. I think he approved.

Please excuse the red stamping on my index finger. I didn't like how it came out so I abandoned the effort. I am so lazy.

I used three coats of China Glaze Mahogany Magic for the base of this mani. I could have used two. I love this polish. Application is a breeze and I love the color.

I used one coat Sation Money Badger over Mahogany Magic to give it a fall look.

I really enjoyed this mani. I almost redid my nails with the same colors a couple days later. I realized that I don't have much time left for Fall manis so I couldn't repeat a mani. I actually did this mani before the fall leaves mani I showed you yesterday. Instead of repeating this mani I just used Mahogany Magic and Lacquistry Yolk-o Oh-no so I didn't stray too far from the look. Did I mention I obsess with colors?

This is one of my favorite Fall manis.

A bottle shot of Money Badger and Mahogany Magic.

That's all for now :)

I'm with the Bandana Gradient

Hey Everyone! Since I was wide awake at 6:15 this morning I figured I would just stay up instead of going back to sleep after taking T to school. This of course means that now I am struggling to stay awake and I am quite sleepy. I am looking forward to Monday since I will get to sleep in and hang out with the boy all day. Right now I am looking forward to sleeping since I won't be getting a nap. Maybe I should run turn up the music and dance around like a fool for a bit.

Today I have a mani I did with some rhinestones I got from the Born Pretty Store At .99 per pack I almost bought one in every color.

I ended up starting off with #6 which is a chartreuse type green and #12 which is black. I decided to start out by using them together as an accent nail. They come in a little baggie filled with tons (100pcs) of pretty stones. I am going to eventually move them into a little container but for now they live in the bags and don't take up much room.

I wanted to try my hand at a gradient. I really am not skilled with gradients but I was semi happy with the way this one came out. I started with a base of Sation I'm with the Bandana from the Nailstock Collection. I would have thought a polish with the word Bandana in the title would be red but I guess that is just me. I then used Zoya Dove and Ruby Wing Electric Firefly for the gradient. I absolutely LOVE Electric Firefly and want to use it for all the manis. It is a great polish! The amazing Karen from Frazzle and Aniploish sent me this baby and I am in love. THANK YOU KAREN!!! I'm sure you all already follow her but if you don't you must, she is awesome!

I decided to alternate the rhinestones on my accent nail. I think the colors went well together even if Electric Firefly did come out a little darker due to the dark base.

The little rhinestones are the perfect size for my nails. These are the 2mm stones. They come in other sizes as well so it was a lucky guess that the 2mm is the size I wanted.

A nice close up of the accent nail and the gradient. I secured the stones with top coat and had no issues with them falling off. I'm with the Bandana applied really well is a very nice gunmetal color. I used a makeup sponge for the gradient and sponged each color on. I did forget to moisten the makeup sponge though. I always forget that part.

I need to work on my gradient skills but it didn't come out too bad. I love the colors together and think the rhinestones were a great accent. As always if you use code JLG10 you can get 10% off your next order at Born Pretty Store

That's all for now :)

Let's Mingle and Jingle

Hey Everyone!! I am sooo tired today. My son's ear was making him miserable and causing him great pain over the past two days. Last night I told him to wake me up if the pain woke him up, got worse or changed. He woke me up twice to tell me the pain was bad/worse and once to tell me it was a little better. Poor kid has been miserable. I got him an early doctor appointment today and sure enough he has an inner and outer ear infection. Don't know why they couldn't see that two days ago but as long as they give him something I am not going to complain too much. Hopefully the meds kick in quick and he starts to feel better soon.

Today's Blue mani is Sation Let's Mingle and Jingle from their 2012 Holiday Golightly collection. Sadly I don't have a bottle shot on this one. It is a pretty blue polish with silver holo glitter. It is quite twinkly.

Please excuse my band aid. I actually got a really nasty blister from making fudge. YES fudge. It was insane. I made carrot cake fudge and ended up getting two blisters lol. The fudge was soooo good so I guess it was worth it.

I think this was three coats of Let's Mingle and Jingle.

I very much enjoy the blue base of this polish. It is very pretty.

I couldn't capture the holo of the glitter no matter what I tried.

In person this twinkles a lot more than you can see in these pictures.

I am loving Sation and the awesome polishes they are coming out with I only wish I could get them here locally. I have yet to see them in a store.

Luckily I have amazing friends that have given me some and I have found some awesome blog sales where I was able to pick some up.

Carrot Cake fudge and Chocolate Marshmallow fudge bunnies :)

Four Leaf Fortune

Hey Everyone!! Today is not my day! I started off by forgetting my bottle of water and forgetting I needed to get lunch for work. Then I went to Sally Beauty to check out what they have on the shelves this week (no holograms yet) and I left my phone on the counter. Luckily I realized it before driving away. At work my computer decides to move slower than molasses and I have to restart and it still wants to be slow. Luckily it decided to go back to normal eventually but it took me twice as long to do everything. THEN I go to drink my coffee and the idiots didn't put Splenda in it. I go to the SAME place EVERY day and order the SAME thing. It really isn't difficult. I think it is time to call it a day.

Today I have my actual St. Patrick's Day manicure for you.

Oopsie Daisies Four Leaf Fortune which is a special a St. Patrick's Day polish and Sation I Paint in Peace from the Nailstock Collection.

I used I Paint in Peace on all my nails except my ring finger. I left the base as Smitten Polish Greensleeves and then used striping tape to paint the tips with I Paint in Peace. Then I added a little rhinestone I got on ebay.

The rest of my nails were a base of I Paint in Peace with two coats of Four Leaf Fortune.

I am not completely happy with I Paint in Peace as the base for this polish. I don't think I like the shade of green with Greensleeves and Four Leaf Fortune. I Paint in Peace is very pretty by itself though, I love the shimmer in it.

Four Leaf Fortune is an awesome glitter! It has different size matte green glitter and round gold glitters that look like little coins. Then there is the micro glitter! The micro glitter in this polish is awesome! It is tiny little metallic green glitter that just gives it this awesome effect that I loved. I kept looking at that micro glitter.

I took a couple of pictures in the "shade" of the car so you can see what it looks like out of direct sunlight.

I absolutely love Four Leaf Fortune and was dying to get my paws on that polish from the first picture I saw of it. It did NOT disappoint at all! Cathryn is also coming out with a Spring Collection called Flora and Fauna very soon. Keep an eye out for that one because knowing her it is going to be awesome! I know I can't wait!

That's all for now :)

Here Today Gone Tomorrow

Hey Everyone!! I just noticed that when I am talking to someone on the computer, be it on a chat or email, when I insert a smiley icon I also smile at the computer. That must be interesting an interesting site to see someone type away then all the sudden smile weirdly at the computer for a second then return to a normal typing face. Anyway, today I spent most of the day at work getting packages together for various people and getting some Easter goods crocheted. I have so many crochet projects to do, some of which are for Easter, and so little time. My friend just had her baby (a week early) yesterday and I have part of her gift barely started. In my defense I was going to work on it all weekend to get it (hopefully) finished and mailed out next week. I should probably be babbling less so I can get to work on my projects lol.

Today I have a few awesome polishes to show you. This mani didn't exactly turn out the way I had planned and that was after my first attempt failed and I had to improvise.

I started with a base of Australis Here Today Gone Tomorrow. The color in the bottle in the picture above is completely inaccurate but I took the picture at night and it just wasn't working for me. I had my son standing next to me shining a flashlight on it. I know, I know, BAD BLOGGER! I need to get an OTT light I think. Here Today Gone Tomorrow is a gorgeous green jelly or crelly. I want to say it is a jelly but it was basically opaque in two coats which does not constitute complete jelly to me. I am not really sure which it is but the color is gorgeous.

I then used Girly Bits Monster Mash from the 2012 Halloween collection on my right hand. I LOVE Monster Mash for both the name and the awesome polish that it is.

I will have the song stuck in my head all night now! Monster Mash is a gorgeous green, gold and black glitter mix in a slightly green tinted base. It is really cool.

Unfortunately because Here Today Gone Tomorrow is so dark you couldn't really see the black glitter in this mani. I love the glitter you can see though.

Next time I am going to have to use Monster Mash on a lighter base.

In person you could see the black glitter better because Here Today Gone Tomorrow caught the light and was not as dark. I didn't have complete sunlight for these pictures though.

I really loved Monster Mash but I also wanted to try out another glitter I had in my green box. Since I am running out of time until St. Patrick's Day I decided to use one glitter on one hand and the other on my other hand.

This is Sation Class Clown. Class Clown is from the 2012 Class of Sation collection.

It looked decent over Here Today Gone Tomorrow but it mostly looks like a bunch of iridescent glitter. That isn't a bad thing but you loose the slightly tinted green base over the dark color.

It does look nice together though and I did enjoy the look.

If I was to choose I would have to say that Monster Mash over Here Today Gone Tomorrow was the much more exciting of the two manis. Now I have to find something better to try these glitters over.

I had also received some Artsyfartsycrafts glitter in the mail that I was so excited about I had to share. Check out those colors!!

I linked you to the facebook page because if you aren't a follower you should be! She has tons of awesome glitters and does all sorts of cute necklaces and hair clips and bows. I actually got these glitters when she had a destash clearance sale to make room for new stuff. I have my eye on some glow in the dark pigments and new mixes she has listed.

That's all for now :)

Roses for a Wedding

Hey Everyone! Once again I have to make this quick because ds needs to do some work on the computer. It is ok though because I am really tired. I was up way too early today.

My mom had a wedding to go to this past weekend and I did her nails to match her outfit. I was so excited to try and do something that looked similar to what she was wearing.

This was the top she wore. My mom doesn't really do black polish and I figured it would be easier if I reversed the colors a bit.

I started with Sation 3 Free-dom as the base.

I used China Glaze Lemon Fizz and saran wrap to finish the look of the base.

Then I used the rose design on Bundle Monster plate BM-323 to add a rose to each nail. I stamped the nail in black then put a little gray here and there to make it look less harsh and more like the shirt.

Her nails grow much longer and stronger than mine. Sadly she didn't pass those genes onto me lol.

I loved the mani and it looked very cute with the top. My mom also loved the mani so I was happy.

That's all for now :)

14 Days of Valentines Day 9

Hey Everyone!!! I know, I am behind!  I am also going to fall two manis short of my 14 day challenge. I couldn't stand to take Companion Cube off after only one day and I didn't want to stamp over it so I lost a day wearing that mani longer. Another day was lost when nothing I was doing came out right and I end up giving up and going to bed before I lost it. 12 out of 14 days isn't bad though. I am actually skipping Valentine's Day this year and I am so excited about it. Df is pretty excited too because he doesn't have to worry about a gift lol I am pretty proud of myself for putting up with Valentine's Day, pinks and reds long enough to do this little 14 Days of Valentines to begin with lol.

Today I have a mani that didn't come out as awesome as I wanted but it didn't come out awful either. All my nails are nubs and I don't have a lot of free edge which of course effects how this one looks. I did a Gelish mani in Izzy Wizzy Let's Get Busy which is the base color you see.

I used Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar for the tips.

I did a little glitter gradient type thing with Sation Miss Popular. I am loving these new Sation polishes.

I think Miss Popular is a little too chunky and sparse for the gradient look but from afar it didn't look too bad.

It has some bar and bigger hex glitter in it which I like but for this look I don't think it works as well.

Close up reveals I had some cotton ball fuzz still hanging around. I wish I had noticed that before the pictures lol.

Over all this mani looked decent. I was happy to see that it didn't look too bad on short nails.

I love the Gelish base with this mani since it adds sparkle. I think a nice sheer pink would have worked too.

That's all for now :)
