July 4th Mani

Hey Everyone! Happy 4th of July! I hope everyone has a safe holiday. I have just spent about an hour trying to get some photos I took with my brother's fancy pants camera to upload to photobucket. I don't know what is going on but they are too large I guess and photobucket rejects them. I tried compressing, resizing, bribing and threatening but nothing works. SO there are no furbaby pictures for you today. I will have to figure out what is going on when he gets here. 

I do have a festive mani to show you though! I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do. This is NOT it! I tried four or five different manis. I tried sponging, gradient, water marble and finally just decided on this one after all others ended in disaster. 

I used Zoya Trixie, Sinful Colors Sugar Sugar and China Glaze Ride the Waves.

I also used Bundle Monster plate BM20.

For some reason I got these photos uploaded NO PROBLEMO. I just realized that, not all of them but some of them were taken with the fancy pants camera, very odd.

I also used some square rhinestones I got off of the Ebay. 

It looks very Dr. Seuss like to me. 

My fingers are super shiny because I had just put cuticle oil on them.

I used two coats of Zoya Trixie as the base. It is probably my favorite silver polish.

I then stamped the image using my black striping polish by Sinful Colors. I find the striping polishes stamp very well.

I used a dotting tool to color in the stars and rockets. I am not sure if those are supposed to be arrows or rockets but for July 4th we will just say they are rockets.

The rhinestones were a bit of a pain. I used tweezers. I struggled with them too. I ended up totally trashing one of the nails so I just put another coat of Trixie on there and stuck the rhinestones to that. I went to the grocery store, Target, ate lunch and made an apple pie crumble and haven't lost a stone yet.

I was so flustered after my failures I wasn't thrilled with this mani however it has since grown on me and I really like it. I will keep it on for an extra day or two because I like it so much. We will see, once the stones start popping off I will redo it.

Lovely Lilacs

Hey Everyone! Today was such a slow day at work we were able to leave early. I was so super excited. I ended up coming home and starting my nails early for tomorrow's July 4th mani. What a headache! The nails look cool but omg I had issues. We have a sick kid here and I believe I might be getting sick too. I am not thrilled. Hopefully I can avoid it but my throat feels scratchy and icky. 

Today I have a polish for you from the Indie polish brand SmittenPolish created by the lovely Noelie. This was the first Smitten Polish I wore. I must note that this baby is gorgeous but I could not for the life of me to get the pictures completely color accurate. It is much deeper purple than the pictures show. I apologize for that but no matter what I tried I could not get it where I wanted it.

Excuse the chip but this was one of the closest pictures as far as color. It is a deep purple jelly! Very pretty and packed with tons of glitter.

This polish sparkles like crazy!

I can't remember if this was two or three coats. Please smack me with a shoe. I am totally having a moment.

I wore this mani twice but only took pictures of one of them. It has been crazy lately and I totally forgot to take pictures the first time I wore it. 

There are tons of pink and purple glitter in there and some holo too. Can you see all that glitter?

I can't find a happy medium here. When I wear holos there is NO SUN and when I don't care about the sun so much it is blazing and washing out my photos. I can't win.

You however CAN win by going over to Noelie's shop and picking this baby up. You won't regret it! It was definitely distracting while I was driving.

It has been a Circus

Hey Everyone! Long time no post. My blog is finally cleared from the malware warning it was getting, thank goodness. I was starting to freak out and couldn't get it figured out so I almost shelved the blog. Luckily I had some awesome people help me out and google got me scanned and cleared. I think I will keep my blogroll down for awhile just to be safe. 

It has been kinda hectic around here and quite frankly circus like. I picked this mani from the stash of pictures I have waiting to be posted for the reason. It has been stressful and crazy and at least things seem to be settling down a bit. I am working on a couple big crochet projects which is taking some time to deal with as well. 

On the animal front the puppy got his surgery and is doing very well. He keeps climbing the stairs which he isn't supposed to do. He is not house broken and he is in the puppy chewing stage so it is quite hectic. I have very sad news about the kittens. The little guy had a couple of seizures two weeks ago. They were really bad and he didn't come out of the last one. We rushed him to the emergency vet but had to make the difficult decision to let him go. They both had a disease that I can't even begin to pronounce and the little guy had worse effects from it. I was heartbroken and am still sad but he is in a better place and not in pain or discomfort any more. The other little guy is doing well and our vet named him Neil. He is getting bigger and is quite the character. 

Ok on to the POLISH!!!

This polish is from the 2012 Spring Finger Paints Gumdrops and Lollipops collection. I saw this polish in the store but passed on it thinking I would come back later and get it. I figured it wouldn't be a popular color but I was incredibly wrong. I never found it again and had several wonderful ladies keeping an eye out for it for me. One of them was sweet enough to find it and RAOK it to me and I am so thankful to her for that. I LOVE this polish and am so happy I was finally able to get it! 

Finger Paints Circus Peanuts!!!

I also went on the hunt for real circus peanuts. They were not easy to find but I ended up snagging them at Walgreens. I think I went through two bags before I had some to take pictures with. They didn't last too long. Everyone loves circus peanuts!

If you didn't have the candy nearby the color seemed to be pretty color accurate from memory. Once I had the candy in front of me though I realized the color wasn't as close as I thought.

It was a pinky, coral like orange color. Very unique and very pretty.

There were times when it looked light and kinda like a weird skin color on me. I didn't mind it though. Mostly in the bright sunlight. 

I love this color. I liked most of the collection and ended up getting most of them on clearance at Sally's. I may actually catch up with swatching one day.

Blog Roll and Malware

Hey Everyone! 

There have been a lot of issues with blogs and malware going around lately. I don't know a lot about it other than I keep getting warnings and though I thought I solved the issue I was informed tonight that I still had a bad link on my page. I think I fixed it but I am not sure. Please let me know if any of you experience issues with my page. I love all the blogs I had listed on my blog roll and I am hoping I will be able to go back through the list and find everything A-ok so I can add them back on there but tonight I do not have the time. I will figure all of that out later. For now I have taken most of it down until I have the issues resolved.

It has been a rough week and I am trying to get a lot done so I haven't had much of a chance to get a post up for you all. I know, I am slacking. I will try and make it up to you as soon as possible. For now though I must run.

Quick Hi

Hey Everyone! The zoo is alive and well here. Kittens are crazy, puppy has had surgery and kids are making ME crazy. Things are chaotic and I am trying to get some sort of routine going but I am having issues finding it. I have so much to do and so little time to do it that I have things going on everywhere. I need to figure some things out so I can multi-task. It would be great if I could edit my pictures and blog at work, I am going to have to look into that. The interesting news is that because I am so busy I am not changing my polish daily right now. Crazy huh?! 

All is well and I will have a better post up for you as soon as I can get a bit of time to edit pictures. There is lots going on and I have TONS of new polishes to share with you from some amazing, awesome creators. I have been slacking on reading blogs as well. So much to do and so little time. I hope everyone is well, I haven't been able to comment on blogs but I am trying to still glace at them when I get a chance.

Zoya Mitzi

Hey Everyone! It has been hectic. The puppy gets surgery Monday, the kittens returned last night and I am sitting here trying to figure out WHY I smell pee. I am fairly certain mr. puppy peed over here somewhere but I just swiffered the floor and can't figure out where. I sincerely hope he did NOT pee on my mother's desk. If he did I really hope I am NOT home when she discovers this. I can tell you this, it is driving me nuts. Maybe he peed on the leg of this chair? I don't know but I am going to post this quickly so I can try and figure it out before I lose my mind.

Today I have for you a Zoya polish from their Mod Matte Collection. 

Mitzi is described as a "funky murky light yellow toned lime" by Zoya. It is a matte type finish though I put top coat on it so I can't show you that aspect of it.

Please excuse the lack of clean up on this mani. I have no idea why I took this picture pre clean up but I did.

I love the color but this sucker did not apply well for me at all. I am not sure if it was due to the experiment I have been doing with my base or if it was due to the polish. 

It might of just needed some thinner though. I am not sure yet.

I am totally loving the color though.

I had to use three coats to even in out after the awful application.

Due to the polish being matte-like it dried pretty fast.

It is a super fun summer color and would go great with a fruity mixed drink with those little umbrellas.

You can see where my fingers were all tore up from the kittens. They are finally starting to get back to normal now that the kittens aren't being bottle fed and ripping them to shreds.

Ok I found a sniffer to help me figure out where this is coming from. I better go before he changes his mind lol.

The Recent Happenings

Hey Everyone! I am emotionally drained. I am frustrated and annoyed and just not having a good week. I do have an actual nail polish post for you that I will prepare. This post is going to have some random stuff and maybe a little venting in it too lol. I will catch you up on my week of being M.I.A.

Last week was the end of the school year. My darling son tried to tank his school year at the end by failing his prefinal. After some stern talking and a lot of studying, stress and worrying he pulled off an A on his final. He only missed ONE question. He has amazed both himself, us and his teacher. I still want to smack him with a shoe for the F but punk finished out the year with Honor Roll all 4 Quarters. It is a first and hopefully not a last.

I threw this together for his after school program teachers. I was already making 100 of the masks I will show you in a minute so I figured I could squeeze 12 of these stars in there too. They are sitting in half of an apple, it has a top but it won't fit with the chocolates in there.

THEN there was the band banquet which I thought, oh hey I can make chocolates for that too. Because you know making 100 detailed chocolate masks is not already enough work to be done.

I got them all made. The kids liked them. It was a success. I still had to finish making those chocolate masks though. I also had to drive upstate to get df's daughter AND we had another unexpected guest arrive at our house.

They got wrapped up and tied with purple ribbon. I got these done Sunday which is good considering they were due Monday. I feel like a weight was lifted off my shoulders after I got the last one done.

My brother came home and wanted to do origami. I told him to give me shiny paper and make the youtube video bigger so I could play too. We made flapping birds. Mine flapped which made me very happy. He was a bit annoyed because I was able to do origami well on my first attempt. HAHA!

This little guy is semi friend. He got hit by a car on Friday. He was brought to df by a guy that stopped a semi from hitting him and grabbed him out of the middle of the street. He didn't see the initial car hit him but luckily saw him in time to save him. He has a NASTY break and need surgery, plates and screws in his leg. He is cute but doesn't seem to like people much. Hopefully he comes around. He is going to the doctor today, hopefully will get the surgery done asap. I guess we will be rehabbing him and trying to get him to be more people friendly.

My kitten friends are at a potential home right now. They are undergoing treatment to see if they will stop shaking so the vet knows what is wrong with them. It is a long story. I don't know much yet. They might be back, they might be in their forever home. The shaking might be cured or might not. I am really not happy with not knowing what is going on though. I guess time will tell.

That was most of my week. School is out, summer has begun. I have been crazy busy and stressed so I haven't paid much attention to my nails for the past week. I have polished them but haven't had a chance to take pictures or anything. I cut them down a bit to get rid of some damage and my hands are still recovering from all the kitten scratches and bites lol. Hopefully things get back on track. If you can send positive vibes out for the puppy and kittens I would appreciate it. :)
